Watch the game and enjoy tail gate party activities at the Ken Anderson Academic All-America Club overlooking Lindberg Stadium at the Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex on the Augustana College campus. Former All-Big Ten Hawkeye fullback Lew Montgomery will share his inspirational faith journey during half-time. His involvement with underserved youth has earned Montgomery a successful career as a motivational speaker. The non-profit arm of Lucas Gear, LLC, an e-commerce company specializing in sportswear for athletes and business professionals, champions fundraising efforts for research about Sanfilippo Syndrome, a genetic condition that Montgomery’s son, Lucas, was diagnosed with in 2007.
Montgomery is known for his leadership on and off the field. A native of Waterloo, he was a standout athlete at Waterloo East High School where he was a two-time All-State running-back and All-American and was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Football Players' Hall of Fame in 2007. He lettered all four years at the University of Iowa, was co-captain, and played in the Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl, and Holiday Bowl under Coach Hayden Fry.
